| we would like to remind anyone with a fire hydrant on or near your property to please keep them clear of snow and ice. With the upcoming winter storm and continued freezing temperatures, the chance of fire increases with the use of alternative heat sources such as space heaters, wood burners, etc. As the storm progresses and reaches our area, response times for emergency responders will be delayed due to adverse road conditions. Keeping your hydrant clear will decrease time tremendously when every second counts.
Some additional tips for the winter storm.
Be sure to have a weeks' worth of perishable food items and water for your family and pets. Charge all electronic devices including cell phones, tablets, and laptops. Be sure smoke alarms and CO detectors are working properly. Be sure all flashlights are working and fresh batteries installed. Top off your heating oil or whatever fuel source you utilize. Make sure all vehicles are full of fuel. Keep extra clothing, blankets, and food items in your vehicle in case you become stranded. We advise to just stay home. Make sure your faucets are at a trickle in an attempt to prevent freezing pipes. Check on your neighbors! Bring your pets inside! Only call 911 for emergencies only!
As always, we are here 24/7 and this weekend will be no different. We will have two crews available for this storm covering our Osceola Mills station and our Sandy Ridge station.
Keep warm and be safe! |
