The primary mission of the Mountain Top Fire Company is to provide comprehensive emergency services aimed at safeguarding the lives and property of those within our designated response area in Rush Township. Our focus is on fire suppression, rescue operations, and emergency medical services (EMS), ensuring the safety and well-being of the community we serve.
As a secondary mission, we extend these services to any neighboring community or agency upon request, reinforcing our commitment to mutual aid and regional support.
Founded in 1927, the Mountain Top Fire Company is located in the village of Sandy Ridge, at an elevation of 2,040 feet, in the southwestern portion of Rush Township. We are proud to be recognized as Centre County Station 13. Our service area is largely rural, including Pennsylvania State Game Lands #33 and #60, which cover a total of 21,900 acres. We are also responsible for a 10-mile stretch of State Route 350, a vital connector for truck traffic between I-99, US Route 322 West, and I-80 West.
We serve a residential population of approximately 1,500, and our EMS substation in Osceola Mills, Clearfield County, extends coverage to an additional 3,000 residents. Our EMS team consists of both career and volunteer personnel, while our firefighting crew comprises 15 dedicated volunteer firefighters.
As a recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization, we rely on community support. Donations of any size are tax-deductible, helping us to continue providing life-saving services to our community.
At Mountain Top Fire Company, we are honored to serve and protect.
